HEADPHONE CHIP DEBUTS, AESTHETICS SHIFT
Anker Innovations, the Chinese electronics firm known for its charging accessories, has unveiled its latest audio offerings: the Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro and Liberty 5 Pro Max earbuds. A central feature of these new devices is the Anker Thus AI chip, a piece of proprietary silicon intended for on-device processing. The Liberty 5 Pro Max model further distinguishes itself with a 1.78-inch AMOLED screen on its charging case.
The introduction of the Anker Thus AI chip marks a significant step for Anker in integrating artificial intelligence directly into its portable audio hardware, aiming for enhanced local processing capabilities rather than relying solely on cloud-based operations.
The Liberty 5 Pro earbuds themselves are IP55 certified and support Bluetooth 6.1 with multipoint connectivity. The higher-tier Liberty 5 Pro Max boasts an exclusive AI-powered note-taking function and is available in black and gold for 249.99 euros.

EXPANDING HORIZONS: FROM CHARGERS TO SOLAR POWER
This audio venture arrives amidst a broader push by Anker to diversify its product line and target a more premium market. Recently, on May 12, 2026, the company announced the Solarbank 4 Pro, a solar power bank with a reported 5,000W capacity and a 10-year warranty. This unit incorporates seven internal protection layers and is designed to synchronize with over 870 electricity providers for optimized charging based on dynamic tariffs and weather forecasts.
Anker Innovations, which also operates subsidiaries in various global locations, positions itself as a leader in smart hardware, focusing on smart charging, energy storage, smart home technology, and smart audio. The company's name, incidentally, derives from the German word for "anchor."
Anker's historical market strength is evident in its widespread presence in charging solutions. Data from Euromonitor International in October 2024 indicated Anker's significant retail sales value in 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023, defining mobile charging brands as those deriving over 75% of their retail sales from phone charging products. While emphasizing its technological advancements, the company notes that its products, including these new earbuds, do not currently contain post-consumer recycled plastic or bio-based plastic. Anker also commits to providing part replacements or maintenance for at least three years after product discontinuation for items sold after September 2025.
