Ken Harwood, a face from the television program Gogglebox, has died at the age of 77. His passing, confirmed by programme producers Studio Lambert, occurred last week following a short illness. Channel 4 has announced a special tribute will be aired during the most recent episode of the show.
Harwood, alongside his wife Anne, was a fixture on the series for five seasons, appearing from seasons 15 to 19. Their on-screen presence often included moments of affection, such as Harwood presenting Anne with a bouquet of 50 roses on their debut, symbolizing their 50 years of marriage at the time. He was married to Anne for 55 years.
The show confirmed Harwood's death, stating a tribute would feature at the conclusion of Friday night's broadcast, complete with an image of Ken and Anne.
The former postmaster was also known to have served as a local councillor, having worked in that capacity for a period. Prior to his public service, Harwood's career included work in PR for a B2B agency and an international television production company. He held a BA in English and Theatre Studies and a journalism diploma. Harwood hailed from the North East of England.
